Growing up, I always planned on being a veterinarian. I spent my high school years taking all of the science classes I could. Then, about mid-way through my senior year in high school, I had an epiphany – some of those animals are going to die. I didn’t think that I would be able to handle that. I visited with my mom about it and she had a couple of thoughts – “you could be an attorney because the other side would give in to you just to shut you up or, you could be an accountant because you like everything in its place.” That conversation, as tongue-in-cheek as it may have been, changed the trajectory of my life.
So here I am many years later, a tax accountant and proud of it! Most people think I am crazy but I truly enjoy it. I have spent most of my career working in a wealth management environment as either a trust officer and/or a tax officer. This has provided me with a broad base of experience in not only the tax arena but also the understanding of investments and how they interrelate with taxes.
In my free time, my favorite activity is reading. This has been a life-long love and over the years I have read many different genres. I really enjoy fiction. Some of my favorite authors through the years include Patricia Cornwell, John Grisham, Stuart Woods and Stephen King.
